The New River Journal

Here is an digital lit./new media narrative journal that should be on all our reading lists:

  1. As an example of the new world of hypertext and publishing this was an interesting e-journal to view. It is a new and different art form that incorporates different media, although in these examples it's not one I am particularily drawn to.
I found examples of the art in the journals to be incoherent, the associations too brief and too fleeting to engage me.

  2. Interesting review Carolyn. Do you have any examples of journals or new media publishing that you prefer?

  3. Hi Jess- I'm actually just starting to look at it - I will provide feedback on my experience as we go through the course on the new media publishing. I think just because the human mind does associations instantly as we start to create or move ourselves down a critical thinking pathway, doesn't mean that the media I view should be going down that pathway at the same speed. It seems to me that then it is making the associations for me and not allowing my own creativity or knowledge to make my own associations.

  4. I really enjoyed the videograph fictions! Not sure why yet, but I was completely engaged with these. Perhaps because the line graphs implied a coherent narrative flow.
